We hope you’ll enjoy what we’ve done, which basically means a complete overhaul of the site. Because the old one looked like 2002, and had not been updated for way too long of a time. So, to get started, let’s sum the basic changes:
- A new design. Different colours and lay-out, but with similar navigation.
- More information on the stadium pages. We’ve kept the same sections, but we’ve increased the text, added some Google maps, photo galleries, and also a bit of history of the stadiums. All fully up-to-date of course.
- News and blog items! From now on, we’re going to keep you up to date with all the latest stadium news, and provide you background through our blogs.
- More interactivity. You can now leave your comments on news and blog posts, write reviews on present stadiums, or record your memories on the stadiums from the past.
- Also, we have all the fancy social media integration you could wish for. So look us up on Facebook, Google +, or follow us on Twitter.
However, not everything is perfect. The one big caveat is that:
- We had to decrease the size of our database. Whereas the old Stadium Guide used to have 750 stadiums in its database, we had to settle for a mere 109 stadiums right now. Especially the past section is rather slim. But imagine what work it is to update everything!
- That said, we plan to add 10 stadiums a week to our database, so within a few months we’ll be at full strength again.
Which brings us to an important part, which is how you can help us:
- Photos! Very important, because everyone loves photos. We need photos to either add to the current stadiums in our database, or of stadiums not yet included. And we promise to prioritise the submission of any new stadium, if you send us authentic, self-made, photos.
- Correct us. Sure, we’ve checked everything and double-proofread, but we’re bound to have made some mistakes. Help us out to correct any incorrect data, spelling mistakes or typos, or to flag unclear sections.
- Write for us! Reviews, memories, comments, or even guest blogs. I’ll be doing some blogging myself, mainly on statistics from our database and some random backgrounds, but wouldn’t it be great to have more talented and knowledgeable writers contributing to this website?
And a final note:
- Please bear with us in the upcoming week. There’s still some technical stuff we need to sort out, so things may work a bit shaky.
And, of course, feel free to let us know your opinion about the site, the things you like, as well as what we could further improve.
Submit your comments below, I’ll be around to answer any questions.
