Stadion Miejski w Gliwicach

Key facts

Club: Piast Gliwice | Opening: 2011 | Capacity: 9,913 seats

History and description

Stadion Miejski w Gliwicach, also known as Stadion Piast, got built in 2010 following Piast’s ascent to Poland’s top league. The stadium was built at the site of the old Stadion Miejski which had stood there since the 1920s.

The new Stadion Miejski officially opened on 5 November 2011 with a friendly match against Wisla Plock (2-1). The stadium’s look is very similar to that of Paderborn’s Benteler Arena, having the same architect.

How to get to Stadion Miejski w Gliwicach

Stadion Miejski w Gliwicach is located in the north-east of Gliwice at about 1.5 kilometres from Gliwice’s main railway station. It’s a 15-minute walk from the station to the stadium.

Gliwice’s old town lies a little further away, south-west of the station, 2.5 kilometres from the stadium. Walking to the stadium takes about half an hour.

Alternatively, take bus 59, 60, 676 from Wroclawska street near the old town. Get off at stop Poniatowskiego (59 or 60) or Targowisko (676). Bus 676 is the most frequent, though none runs more often than twice an hour.

Direct trains connect Gliwice with Katowice (25 minutes) and Wroclaw (just under 2 hours). From Warsaw or Krakow a change is required.

Address: ul. Okrzei 20, 44-100 Gliwice
