We are 800 days away from the start of the 2014 World Cup and for this occasion the Brazilian Ministry of Sport has released a series of photos that show how construction works are progressing.
The issues plaguing the preparations have been well documented, so this is a great opportunity to see for yourself how things stand. Whether FIFA is right to state that Brazil needs “a kick in the butt”, or whether all will turn out fine as it usually does.
The Ministry of Sport, for one, states that all works are currently on schedule. They furthermore give percentages on what part of the works are currently completed to support their case.
Here are a few:
Rio de Janeiro’s Maracaña (39% completed):
São Paulo’s Arena Corinthians (30% completed):
Belo Horizonte’s Mineirão (55% completed):
Brasilia’s National Stadium (54% completed):
Recife’s Arena Pernambuco (32% completed):
There are many more (very nice) photos on the Ministry’s World Cup website, also of the other seven World Cup stadiums which all range between 20% and 60% completed.
So who’s right, FIFA or the Brazilian Ministry of Sport?
