While various stadiums were completed during 2012, few new building works started. It is therefore becoming increasingly difficult to find enough examples for our monthly construction update.
Athletic’s new Estadio San Mamés is one of the few stadiums that is making rapid progress. It is set to open later this year, and this is what the building works looked like a few weeks ago:

Monterrey’s new stadium will take a little longer to complete. It presently looks like this:

Haifa’s new Sammy Ofer Stadium, one of the lesser-known future stadiums in our database, is already nearing completion. Here is a video of the current construction site:
France is one of the few European countries with a good number of works in progress, and the redevelopment of Marseille’s Stade Vélodrome counts as one of the highest-profile examples. Works are currently being performed on installing the roof over the two already-redeveloped stands.
There is, of course, also still Brazil with some magnificent shots of the under-construction 2014 World Cup stadiums. Brasilia’s Estádio Nacional de Brasilia is turning into a real masterpiece.
Salvador’s Arena Fonte Nova is one of the next World Cup stadiums to open, following in the footsteps of Castelão and Mineirão, which did so late last year.
