History and description
Gamla Ullevi opened on 5 April 2009 with the local derby between GAIS and Örgryte (5-1). It replaced the old Gamla Ullevi stadium which had stood in its place since 1916 and got demolished in 2007.
The new stadium came at a cost of SEK 350 million. It counts with a total of 27 VIP boxes.
Apart from being the home of the three Gothenburg clubs, Gamla Ullevi is also the standard playing venue of the Swedish national women’s football team.
How to get to Gamla Ullevi
Gamla Ullevi is located just west of Gothenburg’s city centre. The stadium is part of a larger sports and entertainment complex that includes the Nya Ullevi stadium.
The walk from Gothenburg’s central railway station takes just 5 minutes. The walk from most city centre locations will not take much more and 15 minutes at most.
If arriving by car, there is easy access from the E6 motorway which runs just east of the stadium. Take exit 73 Centrum, follow for the city centre, pass the Nya Ullevi stadium, and Gamla Ullevi lies shortly ahead on the left side of the road.

Eat, drink, and sleep near Gamla Ullevi
Gamla Ullevi lies almost pegged against Gothenburg’s centre in a quiet area that is a mix of offices, residential buildings, and other sports facilities.
There are plenty of eating and drinking options in the adjacent centre. Gothenburg’s proper nightlife areas are a little further south along the Avenyn, Vasagatan, and Linnegatan streets. Avenyn, the principal nightlife street, is a mere 5-minute walk away from the stadium.
The central location of Gamla Ullevi makes that there are many hotels around. You can either choose one north-west of the stadium toward the main rail station, or one toward the south near the nightlife areas.
The options toward the north include Hotel Arena, Clarion Collection Hotel Odin, Hotel Royal, and the somewhat cheaper Hotel Palace. These all get good reviews.

IFK Goteborg Tickets
IFK Goteborg tickets can be bought online, at the club shop at the stadium, or at the ticket windows of the stadium from three hours before the start of the match.
IFK will only sell out the odd very high profile game.

Orgryte Tickets
Tickets for Orgryte matches can be bought online, or at the ticket windows of the stadium from three hours before the match. Orgryte doesn’t normally sell out.
