Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo

Key facts

Club: AD Alcorcón | Opening: 1999 | Capacity: 5,880 seats

History and description

Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo was built in 1999, replacing the old Estadio Municipal that had stood at the same place.

The stadium got expanded in 2009 from an initial capacity of 2,800 to its present capacity. Further plans were made for an enlargement to 12,000 seats, but these got shelved due to funding difficulties.

How to get to Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo

Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo is located in the south-west of the small city of Alcorcon, which is part of the metropolitan area of Madrid.

The stadium lies a short 15-minute walk from Alcorcon’s city centre. Alcorcon can be reached by Cercanía suburban train from Madrid. Take line C-5 from Atocha rail station (or Embajadores) in the direction of Móstoles-El Soto. Cercanía station Las Retamas lies next to the stadium, while Alcorcón station serves the city centre. Trains run regularly and the journey only takes about 20 minutes.

The stadium can also be reached by metro, though it takes significantly longer to get there. The stadium is a 20-minute walk from metro stations Alcorcón and Parque Oeste, which are both on the circular line 12 that runs through Madrid’s southern suburbs. Take line 2 from Madrid’s centre (e.g. Plaza de España) and change to line 12 at Puerta del Sol.

Address: Av. Pablo Iglesias s/n, 28922 Alcorcón

Got tickets here no problem for game against Albacete. Upper tier of stand opposite main stand was €30 for me and €10 for the kids. Good view, despite being right down in the corner. Seemed to be a mixed crowd of home and away where were sitting. Quite a good atmosphere, led by the ultras behind the goal. As I write, it’s 0-1 at half time!
