We attended St Pauli v Ingolstadt at the beginning of the 2014/15 season. Most people are aware of the excellent atmosphere found at St Pauli and this match didn't disappoint. Hells Bells must be the best opening fanfare in world football.

We stood on the North Tribune, which was due to be demolished shortly after to make way for a new stand. I expect facilities will be much improved as the toilets were basically a portacabin. Although to be honest, this kind of suits St Pauli's earthy image. I know it's seen as the hipster's team of choice but all the fans we stood with seemed pretty genuine and mostly too old to be considered hipsters.

The ground is easy to reach with underground stations at both ends of the stadium and there are plenty of pubs and bars on the Reeperbahn and surrounding streets.
