Venue of the Copa del Rey final at last decided: Vicente Calderón

After a few weeks of chaos and uncertainty, Spanish football federation RFEF has finally decided where Barcelona and Athletic will play the Copa del Rey final: Estadio Vicente Calderón.

The Madrid stadium received the most votes of the RFEF member, leaving Estadio La Cartuja in Seville in second place. The vote followed weeks of discussions after Real Madrid decided to not allow the game to be played at the Bernabéu, which was the preferred venue for both teams.

Atheltic had expressed its preference for La Cartuja as a second option (Barcelona boycotted the meeting), but in vain. The final will hence be played at the 25th of May at Estadio Vicente Calderón in Madrid.
